A Mental Exercise For Your Personal and Professional Achievement ...

A Mental Exercise for Your Personal and Professional Achievement.
By Justin Williams
Picture a guy who had made all sorts of mistake in the past. In just a few short years accumulating over $17,000 of debt, ruining both personal friendships and love relationships, and just barely getting by professionally. Finally one day he wakes up, disgusted with decisions that he has made, and that not only did he let himself down, but also the people around him. Yup, you guessed it, that guy was me. But luckily, to my good fortune someone introduced me to mental exercise that literally changed my life! A couple years back while working as a Fitness Training in Southern California, A client of mine who happened to be a very wealthy man (business owner & real estate developer). Although, he was extremely business minded, he was also very radiant, and very easy to talk to. One day after a training session (during this period of my personal devastations), he says to me ?obviously you?re getting the work done physically, because you have a fantastic body, but what kind of exercises are you doing mentally? you seem sort of out of it lately!? At first I didn?t know how to respond to that last bit, so eventually I responded, ?I read books; I mean what other exercises are out there to train people?s minds?? Jokingly he responded, ?My friend, let me introduce you to the power of positive self-talk?. Wow, I remember that conversation as if it were yesterday! Two years later, I?m graduating with my Associates Degree this month(April 27th), I?ve already been excepted to the 3rd largest University in the America for the Fall, And my Money management is much better than it was in the past! Not to mention, I?ve met some pretty amazing friends along the way with this application of positive self-talk! Back then, my client(now mentor) explained to me that in order for this power of positive self-talk to work, it has to be used often, and that I had to be truly desirous of making a long term effectual change in one or more aspects of my life. He further explained to me, that I had to be willing to invest the time into encouraging myself, which was extremely imperative for me because there was nobody else around. He assured me that by employing power of positive self-talks in this manor I would be able to succeed in just about any field that I put my mind into. So what?s the basic idea behind the power of positive self-talk? The general principle behind the power of positive self-talk is that people are able to improve on some aspect of their lives, by concentrating and reprogramming their minds to think positive thoughts, in hopes to mentally capture and project an ideal picture of want they want for the future. By focusing on these particular points and reinforcing them repeatedly, you are able to create in yourself anticipation and expectation these changes will came pass. Quite often I like to incorporate the use of a mirror during exercising the self-talk principle. For this process, talked to yourself as you would a trusted friend. Through talking to other about this subject, along with my own preference I found that often times we find it easier to confide in ourselves than in other people. Talking into a mirror will give you sort of grounding. In the sense that you are being spoken to directly by a person you trust, forcing the accuracy of what you are promising yourself will come to pass. The Mirror technique is just one example of many techniques used to creatively engage in the exercise of self-talk, I?ll include others in later post! Positive self- talk is only one step in a long process in self -improvement, so I?m not saying that it?s a cure all and all of your problems will immediately vanish as soon as you start this mental exercise. But I can personal tell you that the power of self- talk will help to cultivate the right mindset, it will create inside of you a positive sense of anticipation, and determination to succeed! Because of the how the power of positive self- talk has affected my life, I?m strongly recommending to you to make this exercise an irrevocable part of yours!
