Now that we?ve got multiple upcoming Star Wars movies in development, I guess we need to prepare ourselves for the fact that Star Wars rumours are going to become a weekly, if not daily, reality for the foreseeable future. Something tells me that for the first time, it?s going to be awfully hard to avoid spoilers for an upcoming J.J. Abrams flick. Everyone is dying for more information and it would seem that many of the people behind the scenes are all too eager to talk about it. This week we?ve already got our very first casting rumour for the next Star Wars movie and while I wouldn?t exactly call it a bombshell, it?s definitely going to get people talking. Believe it or not, it looks like Harrison Ford is the first actor to officially commit to starring in Star Wars: Episode VII.

According to Latino Review, Harrison Ford has finalized a deal to return as Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode VII and possibly the next two films that will follow. This deal does not seem to include the Han Solo spin-off that is also in development, which will be focusing on the character?s younger years. It?s unclear just how significant his role in Episode VII will be, but the general feeling is that it will be more than a cameo.

While the news hasn?t been confirmed by Disney, it isn?t all that hard to believe. For months now we?ve been hearing that all of the stars of the original trilogy are open to reprising their roles. Harrison Ford would have been the most questionable, so the strategy of securing him before all others makes a lot of sense. Of course, if this is true, it also leads to more questions. Will the new movies focus on Han and Leia?s kids despite Lawrence Kasdan?s comments that the new movies will start fresh and ignore the so-called Expanded Universe? It?s hard to say. At the very least, it?s nice to know that some familiar faces will be back even if they now have a few more wrinkles. Are you excited to see Harrison Ford play Han Solo on screen again?
